Heggerty is seeking a Product Manager to oversee strategy for our Literacy and Language Arts products. The Product Manager will possess a passion for early literacy and a deep understanding of the reading and ELA markets, and will combine this with research, data, and direct customer feedback to create and manage a multi-year product roadmap for Heggerty’s curriculum solutions.
Heggerty is a literacy education company providing the #1 phonemic awareness curriculum for preschool and elementary classrooms. Founded nearly 20 years ago by Dr. Michael Heggerty, a reading instruction pioneer, we provide digital and print curriculum, classroom resources, and professional development to help educators empower the next generation of readers. Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the VP of Product, the Product Manager’s responsibilities include:
Research
- Conducting market and user research to inform product development strategy.
- Gathering direct feedback from districts, schools, and teachers through interviews, surveys, and classroom visits.
- Serving as the resident expert on product trends in the ELA and literacy markets.
- Capturing and analyzing data to inform product decisions.
Strategy
- Proposing product ideas and improvements that address real classroom needs and improve student learning outcomes.
- Collaborating across departments to identify opportunities, share market insights, and establish a clear product vision.
- Managing a roadmap for curriculum development projects that represents strategic growth while delivering high-quality, evidence-based literacy solutions.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to define product positioning and pricing.
Development
- Assisting the Project Manager in the creation of project plans, milestones, and development schedules.
- Identifying, hiring, and coordinating the work of contributing vendors (as needed).
- Working closely with designers, content creators, and digital developers through all stages of product development to define, prioritize, and test product ideas.
- Communicate priorities, status, risks, and findings across the organization.
Implementation
- Lead cross-departmental go-to-market activities.
- Train internal teams on new and updated product solutions.
- Write and maintain product support articles.
- Provide support to customer-facing teams through product launch and implementation.
Requirements
- Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for our mission
- 3-5 years of product management experience (or related experience in literacy and ELA product development)
- Knowledge of the PreK-5 education market
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Classroom teaching experience preferred
